Andy White

Andy White's songwriting is crafty, his imagery is sharp and poetic, while the music paints pictures of its own. When Andy first emerged with his debut EP, "Religious Persuasion", he sounded coldly furious, castigating the irrational hatreds of his native Belfast's warring tribes.

The critical acclaim that rained down upon the subsequent 'Rave On Andy White' album, and its more elaborate sequel 'Kiss The Big Stone' offered him a chance to tour the world.

'Himself', Andy's third album, remains a truly atmospheric recording and brought him the Hot Press Songwriter of the Year Award in 1993. 'Destination Beautiful', Andy's latest solo recording, took up where Himself left off. It's a collection of songs about identity and individuality; about place, babies, and (in passing) John Lennon.

Calling themselves ALT, friends Liam Ó Maonlaí, Tim Finn and Andy wrote and recorded an album called Altitude, which was released in 1995.
